I Want to Forget

To my Dearest Husband

I can’t let go of our family. I’ve tried to imagine life without you and the kids, but I just can’t do it. I know I’ve made unforgivable mistakes, and I know you’re planning to leave. The thought of losing everything—losing you, losing them—is too much. I won’t live without my family.

Introduction

This is a puzzle game where you complete puzzles to unlock memories from your past and your family. You complete puzzles and you slowly uncover parts of your house picking mementos related to you and your family unlocking memories. I’m the sole developer for this project. This project is mainly to utilize the tile puzzle mechanic to its full potential.

There’s only 1 puzzle mechanic for this project. The tile puzzle but it is heavily modified to fill the needs of this project. The moment to moment gameplay for this project is for the player to pick up mementos which unlocks puzzle pieces in the tile puzzle. Collecting enough of these mementos will eventually allow the player to fully complete the target puzzle.

I wasn’t satisfied with the results of the game jam, so in an effort to make something that will be more complete planned this one. Unfortunately, trying to get help from my previous team bear no fruit as all of them had busy schedules. I went with this project on my own just so I can get something out.

Tile Puzzle v.2

I imported the same puzzle minigame from the Fuzzy Memories project, but it is upgraded with feature that automatically captures a scene and projects that into the puzzle pieces.

The puzzle uses a capture camera to capture an image then automatically processes that to use as a puzzle.

Static VFX Effect

One thing you’ll immediately notice as you boot up the game is a static effect is liberally applied to multiple parts of the game. This is to denote the player character not remembering parts of his house and his memories being fuzzy.
